MACK Residential is committed to its responsibilities under the UK's Modern Slavery Act 2015 and this statement sets out the firm's zero-tolerance approach towards modern slavery and human trafficking.  Our statement highlights our commitment to this in our dealings and relationships, including our own recruitment process and supply chain.

Our approach

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. MACK Residential have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.

As an equal opportunity’s employer, we're committed to creating and ensuring a non-discriminatory and respectful working environment for our staff. We want all our staff to feel confident that they can expose wrongdoing without any risk to themselves.

Our recruitment and people management processes are designed to ensure that all prospective employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and to safeguard employees from any abuse or coercion.

We do not enter into business with any organisation, which knowingly supports or is found to be involved in slavery, servitude and forced or compulsory labour.

Our Policy also sets out steps that our staff can take if they are concerned about modern slavery. We maintain a Whistleblowing Policy and other sustainable business policies that ensure issues should not arise but if they do, any concerns raised can be dealt with appropriately.

Our supply chain

Due to the nature of our business, we assess ourselves to have a low risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains.

Our supply chains are limited, and we procure goods and services from a restricted range of UK suppliers.

We will continue to embed the principles through:

  • providing awareness training to staff on the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and informing them of the appropriate action to take if they suspect a case of slavery or human trafficking
  • ensuring staff involved in procurement activity are aware of and follow modern slavery procurement guidance on GOV.UK
  • ensuring that consideration of the modern slavery risks and prevention are added to MACK Residential’s policy review process as an employer and procurer of goods and services
  • making sure MACK Residential’s procurement strategies and contract terms and conditions include references to modern slavery and human trafficking
  • continuing to take action to embed a zero tolerance policy towards modern slavery
  • ensuring that staff involved in buying or procurement and the recruitment and deployment of workers receive training on modern slavery and ethical employment practices

Recruitment and work culture

We are dedicated to maintaining a fair and ethical workplace for all our staff. We ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation relating to employee recruitment and terms and conditions, including right to work evidence and that no staff are paid less than the living wage. Our Whistleblowing Policy enable concerns to be raised and resolved. Those can include any concerns about supplier practices.

Training

This statement, and the risk our business faces from modern slavery in its supply chains, forms part of the induction process for all individuals who work for us, and regular training will be provided as necessary.

Our zero-tolerance approach to addressing the issue of modern slavery in our business and supply chains must be communicated to all suppliers, contractors and business partners at the outset of our business relationship with them and reinforced as appropriate on an ongoing basis.

Our commitment to drive continual improvement

We remain committed to ensuring that there are no instances of modern slavery or human trafficking within our supply chains or in any part of our business. During 2024/2025 we commit to:

  • Continuing to raise awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking across the organisation and with partners.
  • Further strengthening our procurement processes.
  • Continue to embed modern slavery legislation in policies and procedures.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our modern slavey and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2025
